The project

Digital Spine is a Berlin-based software company known for its innovations in the field of elevator digitization and smart building management. Through their "Aufzughelden" brand, they offer IoT technology and cloud-based solutions for real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and data analytics. In the role of UX/UI Designer, I worked on redesigning their elevator management platform for improved usability and a cohesive brand experience.

Design Direction

In an initial workshop session with the client, we interviewed the stakeholders regarding the user groups, business perspective, and brand, so we could define a list of requirements coming from those three perspectives, which would shape the project. Digital Spine also provided some wireframes, which served as the basis for the first step, a UX Audit.

Design Direction & Detailed Design

In the design direction phase, we created three templates: the elevator overview page, elevator detail page, and the comparison page to compare elevator performance and analytics. We designed new UI elements based on the existing Digital Spine branding. In 2023, Digital Spine updated its brand, and we changed the font and colors accordingly for the management platform. I was responsible for wireframing and UI design during this phase of the project.

DELIVERABLES

Three different screens. The first screen displays an overview of elevator assignments and a map, the second screen details individual elevator statistics and live tracking, screen provides comparison and analysis tools for various elevator metrics.

Further feature development

Since then, I have continuously worked on the concept and design for a variety of additional features in the portal, including document download capability, date picker, error messaging, knowledge base, and more. For all these features, I worked directly with the client-side developers and delivered clickable prototypes and documentation.

Dashboard

Digital spine could dashbaoard

At the end of 2023, we worked on developing the concept for the general management portal dashboard, which would be the main place for users when they enter the tool. The goal was to show the most important data to the user and provide clear guidance when navigating between different “apps” inside the portal.
